Tremblant Blues Festival 2012 Lineup
FRIDAY, JULY 6
Debbie Davies @ 9:00pm – Telus Stage @ Place Saint-Bernard
Arguably the top female blues guitarist, Debbie is in Tremblant for one show only and should not be missed. Her guitar playing has been likened to such greats as Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
SATURDAY, JULY 7
Tower of Power @ 8:30pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
A 40-year old institution, Tower of Power has a sound that is described as urban soul music. Extremely high energy and with an entire horn section, TOP is best seen live!
SUNDAY, JULY 8
The Bart Walker Band @ 5:00pm – Telus Stage @ Place Saint-Bernard
Another great classic blues guitarist, Bart Walker won this year’s prestigious Gibson Guitar Best Blues Guitarist Award at the International Blues Challenge and the band came in second overall! This is the perfect show to finish off a Sunday.
MONDAY, July 9
Royal Southern Brotherhood @ 8:00pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
Truly the new reigning kings of Southern rock, RSB is going to keep your toes tapping and your fists pumping. Their self-titled album is perfect for the drive into Tremblant though you have to keep an eye on your speedometer; it’s easy to get carried away!
TUESDAY, July 10
Popa Chubby @ 9:00pm – Telus Stage @ Place Saint-Bernard
Don’t be put off by the name or tattoos, Popa Chubby and his electric blues, are downright magical. Fingers crossed he performs his amazing rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
WEDNESDAY, July 11
Kim Churchill @ 7:00pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
A huge hit last year, Kim is back again this year to gift us with his amazing talent. Original songs, a beautiful voice, and some serious guitar skills, this is the next generation – a performer who we’re sure we’ll see a lot more of.
THURSDAY, July 12
Nanette Workman @ 8:30pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
There’s not much we can say about Nanette Workman that hasn’t been said before. An amazing artist we can’t wait to see her again.
FRIDAY, July 13
Kim Wilson’s Blues Allstars @ 8:30pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
A man with a lung capacity that could compete with Pavarotti, Kim Wilson is the master of the mouth organ. And he’s bringing along some other greats, including Larry Taylor (formerly of Canned Heat).
SATURDAY, July 14
Lowrider Band @ 8:30pm – Volkswagon Stage @ Place des Voyageurs
Four out the five surviving members of the infamous 70s rock band, War, these guys are old pros that put on an amazing show. It’s always great to hear some of the old classics!
SUNDAY, July 15
Jireh Gospel Choir @ 5:00pm – Telus Stage @ Place Saint-Bernard
Though it may not be your typical Blues Festival performance, we can’t wait to take-in the uplifting gospel of Jireh. A fantastic way to finish what is sure to be an amazing ten days!
It’s hard to narrow it all down, but if we could only see one show each day, the above would be our picks! Thank goodness we won’t actually be that limited and we can’t wait to see some of the new faces and find some new tunes for our iPods.
